Rep. Robert Nyman

Rep. Robert Nyman was found dead at his home last night. The Globe is reporting:

Massachusetts State Representative Robert Nyman, 49, was found dead in a swimming pool at his Hanover home Friday night, authorities said.

Nyman had gone to a local golf course earlier in the day to participate in the planning of a charity event and returned home briefly and then went back to the course at approximately 1 p.m., according to a statement from the office of Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz.

It was not clear when he returned home again, but his family came home at about 8:30 p.m. and found him unresponsive in the family pool, according to the statement. The cause and circumstances of his death were not released.

Candidate OCPF
» Jared L. Valanzola (R)
» Korey M. Welch (R)

Rep. Robert J Nyman, who was running as the single Democratic candidate in this race was found dead in his pool June 26th. This leaves the race with just 2 Republican challengers. I’m not sure what happens now. Is the Democratic party able to substitute a new Democractic candidate?

The two current Republican challengers, Valanzola and Welch are both new to politics and so far have almost no campaign presence. All I could find was Valanzola’s facebook page. Neither of them has yet filed OCPF campaign financing reports.

Valanzola at least at this point looks like the clear leader. He is a member of the Rockland School Building Committee. He at least has the beginnings of a campaign going. And he’s gathered an endorsement from “Citizens for Limited Taxation”.

  • Post Election Analysis: What are people saying? November 5, 2010
Republicans were disappointed that they lost all their congressional challenges, and all their races for statewide constitutional offices. Democrats are savoring a “clean sweep” in Massachusetts in the middle of a devastating collapse at the national level. There are many good post election analysis articles out on the web worth looking at. I don’t have […] […]
